Satoshi: A Free Clean and Minimal Portfolio WordPress Theme Satoshi: A Free Clean and Minimal Portfolio WordPress Theme

Happy New Year! This is my first post of 2010 and as a New Year present I’m giving away my latest WordPress theme – Satoshi – free of charge. It’s released under GPL, so you can use it for all your projects (personal or commercial) for free without any restrictions. You can also modify the theme however you choose.

Satoshi is ideal for portfolio sites and allows you to easily present your best work to an online audience. The download file includes all of the source code, the fully layered PSD file, and instructions about how to install and configure the theme. It’s packed with a wide range of different features which are described below along with screenshots.

Stylish Front Page

Satoshi comes with a front page template that enables you to highlight some of your more important project work. In particular, there is a “Featured Project” section where you can describe one of your best pieces of work – this can be easily configured via the theme options in your WordPress Admin panel.

There’s also another area lower down on the front page where you can draw attention to some other recent work that you have undertaken. This can again be easily configured via the WordPress Admin panel.

Portfolio Page

Satoshi also comes with a portfolio template that allows you to display information about all the project work you want to include on your site.

Blog

The blog has a clean design that allows you to add a “featured image” for each post via the use of custom fields. Threaded comments are also available and the comments section is gravatar-ready. The sidebar allows you to display advertisements (configured through the theme options page) and is also widget-enabled.

AJAX Contact Page

Also included with Satoshi is a template for an AJAX contact page that includes error checking. Configuring this form is very straightforward and is described in the instructions that come with the theme.

Theme Options

Satoshi comes with a number of themes options that you can use to configure the theme to your specific requirements – these include details for the featured section on the front page, the choice between six different color schemes, advertisement management, and Google Analytics support.

Feedback

I hope you find the theme useful – please leave a comment below if you have any feedback, questions, or suggestions of extra features that you would like to see added. Thanks :-)

Hi – thanks for the Satoshi theme – it’s a fab theme!!

Quick question…how do I get the “Other Recent Work” footer at the bottom of the Front Page working? How do I add other projects to there?

Also, I’ve created one page as a Portfolio page (selecting the Portfolio template) but cannot seem to get any content up…can you help please?

    thanks

Hi Gaurav – it’s probably easiest if you can send me your email address to support@vooshthemes.com – I can then run through what you need to do.

Great theme, but stuck with some edits…

    1. How do I change the Santoshi image and the “clean” image in the top right?

    2. I selected a page to show as the front page…the content from the page I selected as the frontpage doesn’t show…it just shows a generic frontpage with header, “we build clean sites” message, featured and other work sections.

    3. How do I get rid of the “we build clean and stylish websites”?

    hi chris,

thx again for this beautiful theme. however i guess i do not use all of the beauty so far.

front page: is there a chance, that i display for instance the last 3 to 5 posts (like the portfoliio – magazine style) via the friontpage?? (small pic, first lines or short teaser)

    thx in advance

Does this theme support multilingual plugins? I’m using qtranslate, but it doesn’t appear that the CSS properly renders Chinese.

Hi, thanks for this great theme,
I have a problem with the content pasted in the “Featured Project Content” to show on the Front Page, the simple quote signs are displayed with a number of ‘\’ preceding them.
    Is there a solution ?
    Thanks again

wordpress newbie here. Just signed up for a blog and am trying to follow the directions to upload this free theme. I don’t have an ADD NEW button next to manage themes on my dashboard. How can I add this theme? Do I need to purchase an upgrade?

    Hello, Chris.

Thank you for the Satoshi theme. It is beautiful. The accompanying instructions in the zip file were exceptional, so my site was fully customized and running by the end of the day. To anyone who downloads this theme: just follow the instructions closely.

One question: I have set up a Portfolio page that includes images for six individual projects. If you click on a project image, you are taken to another page that includes a description of that project and an image known as a Large Screenshot, which can be up to 430 pixels wide, right?

For some reason, some of those Large Screenshots keep disappearing after a few hours. When I go back into my Dashboard and into the My Portfolio folder and then click on the title of the page in question, I see the Large Screenshot URL has disappeared from the field. I put it back in, so the image comes back again, but only for a little while. This problem does not occur with all six pages.

    Any ideas? Thanks again.

I’m having the same problem with the large screenshot URL disappearing. I’m trying to implement jquery, and this is becoming tedious.

Great theme, is there a way to add a next page function within each single portfolio page? So you don’t have to go back to the main portfolio link? Just makes it easier to navigate through all the work.

Hi, when i upload the theme i get this error message….

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: register_nav_menu() in /home/seandeyuk/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/themes/satoshi/functions.php on line 20

    thanks.

Nice theme, but when in backend, it doesn’t load the Theme options for some reason. I cannot access it. All files are where they should be. I’m using the 3.0.1. version of WordPress, croatian language install. Anyone else having this issue?

    Hello,
very nice theme but i’got a little problem:
I’ve installed it on wordpress 3.0.1 and it worked fine during 5 minutes ;)
Satoshi Options works strangely: Front office disappeared after completing each field.
Source code is OK but nothing appears.
Do you have any idea of what the problem can be ?
    Thanks a lot,

    Marc

I have the same problem in that the tagline is not picked up from the Settings>General page and there is nowhere on the ‘theme options’ page to overwrite the ‘clean/minimal/quality’ image. I had to edit the header.php. Love to know if there is an option around this.

      Great theme BTW!

    • May 12th, 2011 at 11:44 pm

      Remove this line of text <img src="/wp-content/themes/satoshi/images/description.png” class=”description” />
located at the bottom of header.php

I really love this theme – I’m using it as a shop for my new fake cakes site. Do you know how i can set a limit on how many images go on the portfolio page? i’d like to show page 2, 3 etc at the bottom.

I like the theme a lot and I’d even pay for it but I get a blank screen of death (twice) after creating a few pages… I use wordpress 3.1.3 greek version, no plugins and when reverting back to the original theme everything is ok. Tried deleting the theme and reinstalling but nothing changes, just a blank screen. When I unistalled wordpress completelly and reinstalled it alogn with the theme it worked fine until I added a portfolio page to ti :( So the question is will the rest of the paid themes cause the same problem? I like some of them. Thanks for the great work, I wish I could get it working!
