Cheers Stuart – totally agree with you about the importance of being able to sell yourself on a single page – overwhelming visitors with lots of information in an attempt to impress them will more than likely result in them clicking away. It’s essential to keep things simple and only include what’s absolutely key (which can be hard to determine).

Good article – thanks for the mention. We moved to a single page website about a year ago now and it has done the job of getting enquiries really well. With JQuery around to help condense pages and hid content behind clicks, getting a lot of info in to one page has never been easier. If you can’t sell yourself in once concise page, you really need to look at how you market yourselves as people have very little time and attention these days. Even if you site is 50 pages big a single page approach to the homepage should be adopted if you want to convert business quickly.

Yeah, the space constraints of a single page site does make it more difficult to come up with an effective design. Deciding on what’s absolutely essential and getting rid of everything else can be quite challenging. Although, like you say, there are some nice benefits in that you have much less to manage compared to a more typical multi-page site.

i recently moved to a single page website as my portfolio and it’s been far easier to manage. contact information is really important, but getting your skills and highlighting can be difficult sometimes, especially if you don’t want it to look like spam!
